Marriott works to help address the global issue of youth unemployment and ensure a brighter future for our world’s youth by partnering with nonprofit organizations to identify, train and mentor youth for meaningful careers in our industry.
Empower Through Opportunity
Unemployment and underemployment are some of today’s most pressing issues, driven by inequality and lack of opportunity.
We partner with leading nonprofits to ensure workplace readiness and access to opportunity to our business, including our supply chain, focusing on youth, diverse populations, women, people with disabilities, veterans and refugees.
Youth
- By 2025, invest at least $35M to increase and deepen programs and partnerships that develop hospitality skills and opportunity among youth, diverse populations, women, people with disabilities, veterans and refugees

- In partnership with the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance’s employability program, we sponsored hospitality skills training for nearly 250 youth across five countries in 2023. More than 100 of these youth were trained at Marriott hotels and more than half of those trained on-property secured employment opportunities at Marriott
- Our Headquarters’ Fellowship Program provides students an opportunity to learn about Marriott and potentially return as a future associate. In 2023, we hired 32 fellows through this program
- Marriott provides graduates the opportunity to pursue the Voyage Program, which is an award-winning, global leadership development program available in over 50 countries

Embracing differences and putting people first is part of our culture of inclusion and the way we do business. Our core strength lies in our ability to support diversity, equity, and inclusion by creating opportunities for our associates, guests, owners and franchisees, and suppliers.

We empower women and join in the effort by working with nonprofit organizations to develop skills and opportunities for women, supporting women-owned hotels, purchasing from women-owned businesses and providing development and advancement opportunities for our workforce.

The transformative power of a job is one of the most impactful ways to empower people with disabilities. Through our efforts with leading organizations, such as Bridges from School to Work, we support skills development, training, job placement, and business opportunities for people with disabilities.

Veterans
Veterans
When it comes to taking care of our communities, we have a “spirit to serve.” Our veterans truly know what that means. We provide support through access to meaningful careers, championing and purchasing from veteran-owned small businesses, and providing cash, in-kind, and volunteer support to leading veteran and military organizations.

Refugees
Refugees
We aim to help those most vulnerable among us. By providing skills development and training for jobs in our industry, we empower refugees to create a positive future for themselves, their families and their communities.

- Supported the International Rescue Committee’s (IRC) Hospitality Link program by training 76 refugees. Among them, 78% received job placements, including at Marriott hotels
- Worked with the Tent Partnership for Refugees to connect refugees with career opportunities at hotels; aim to mentor 50 Hispanic refugees over a three-year period
